WHEREAS Main Street of the Town of Hawkesbury, being a total distance of 3.3 kilometres only, is connected at its easterly and westerly boundaries by County Road Number 4 of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell, County Road Number 4 being designated as a major collector road; AND WHEREAS the County Official Plan further states that major collectors are County roads which have the capacity to carry large traffic volumes, which link two or more communities; AND WHEREAS Main Street’s true function and purpose serves as a connector, via County Road 4, between multiple towns/villages, including built-up areas with access to the Long Sault Interprovincial Bridge; AND WHEREAS county roads presently connect and link towns, villages and hamlets within the United Counties of Prescott and Russell with the sole exception of the Town of Hawkesbury which has no County roads within its jurisdiction; AND WHEREAS Main Street of the Town of Hawkesbury qualifies and meets all the criteria of being designated as a county road; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT Main Street in the Town of Hawkesbury be transferred to the United Counties of Prescott and Russell effective January 1, 2026.
