Whereas the tenders received for the Chemical Storage and Feed System Upgrades at the Water Treatment Plant on July 9, 2020, exceed the approved capital budget, and; Whereas additional work related to the sodium silicate tank estimated at approximately $200,000.00 will be added to the scope of the contract following the discovery of the very poor tank condition, and; Whereas the budget is now estimated to be $1,785,000.00 for the totality of the project comparatively to the initially approved budget of $1,112,000.00. Be it resolved to approve a budget increase in the amount of $673,000.00 for a total of $1,785,000.00 as well as the following financing strategy as recommended in the document 2020_REC_46. Watermain network – Rehabilitation (General Fund ) $300,000.00; Township of Champlain user fees+/- $134,100.00; Long-term debt $238,900.00, and; Be it also resolved to award the contract for the Chemical Storage and Feed System Upgrades at the Water Treatment Plant to Eastern Welding (1377837 Ontario Inc.) in the amount of $1,329,690.00 excluding HST.
