Whereas the Francophone Immigration Support Network in Eastern Ontario requests that Council joins the international movement of celebrating Black History Month, and; Whereas the month of February is already recognized as such by the government of Canada and the government of Ontario, and that this is a great occasion to showcase Black communities and commemorate their history and; Whereas the past year was particularly tense for these communities, the recognition of Black History Month is a good way to reaffirm support for these communities and contribute to a convivial and anti-discriminatory climate for the wellbeing of all. Be it resolved that Council recognize forthwith that the month of February is Black History Month, as recommended in document 2021_REC_06.
